At the Brand’s huge Mobile Unboxed event at Earl’s Court in London Samsung announced its new Android handset the Galaxy S III, it features a quad-core processor, and it runs Ice Cream Sandwich OS with Samsung’s latest TouchWiz interface that includes cool new ways to interact with the phone – S Voice (like Apple’s Siri), Smart Stay (eye-tracking) and several other smart tricks.

The successor to the Samsung Galaxy S2, the new handset sports a massive 4.8-inch super HD AMOLED screen 1,280×720 pixels in resolution and 640×480 in resolution with a 306ppi pixel density.

Samsung’s Galaxy S3 camera is only 8 Mega pixel auto focus camera with flash & zero shutter Lag shooting video at 1080p HD with 30fps. The front-facing camera on the Galaxy S3 packs a 1.9MP sensor and face recognition also it can shoot 720p video itself.

The Galaxy S3 sports 1GB of RAM same as the predecessor S2, while the Flash memory is available in 16, 32 and 64 GB versions, while there’s also a micro SD card slot if you want to expand the memory. There’s also 50GB of free cloud storage for your content on Dropbox, which is double of what HTC is offering on its HTC One X device.

The S3 packs a 2100mah battery, compared to the S2′s 1650mah cell.

The Galaxy S3 has a wide range of interactive features on board such as:

Smart Stay
The phone tracks your eyes, so as long as you’re looking at it, the screen won’t turn off.

Direct Call
If you’ve got a contact on your screen, there’s no need to hit call: simply hold the device up to your face and the number will be dialed automatically.

Smart Alert
Samsung’s enhanced notifications centre tells you what’s happened since you last looked at your phone in order of importance.

S-Voice
That’s S for Samsung, not Siri. This feature allows you to control your phone through voice, especially to turn up the volume, and to ask it questions.

S-Beam
High speed file transfer via NFC and WiFi Direct, between two phones touched together, operating at up to 300Mbps.

Pop Up Play
Play video in a window on any homescreen.

Burst shot and best photo
The 8MP camera now offers a 20-shot burst mode and will choose the best photo for you. Photos now possible at the same time as video filming.

Face Zoom and Slide Show
Double tap a face to zoom in; automatic slide show generation zooms in on faces as individual pictures for pictures with lots of people

Social network and camera integration
Automatic tagging of pictures, and the option to send images directly to those identified in them, called Buddy Photo Share, or display social media profile information on screen. Group Tag lets you tag multiple people in one go, if you set up a group first.

Samsung’s new flagship device is available in ‘Pebble Blue’ and ‘Marble White’ and might be making its way to North America as soon as the middle of June, and its price as much as $700 for the SIM-free model.

Apple has finally unveiled its latest iPhone, The iPhone 4s and not the rumored iPhone 5, the new phone will run the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system iOS 5. Let’s take a closer look at what the iPhone 4S has to offer.

The iPhone 4S will be loaded with the Apple A5 chip found in the iPad 2. It’s a dual-core processor with a 1GHz clock-speed, bringing Apple into line with competitors such as the Samsung Galaxy SII that also have dual-core processors in their phones. Apple claims the 4S is up to seven times faster than the current iPhone 4 and graphics in games should also be improved.

The camera has been increased for the iPhone 4S from the 5Mp camera in its predecessor iPhone 4 to 8Mp for the new one. The 8Megapixel camera will shoot 1080p full HD video (720p in iPhone 4) and a custom lens with a larger f/2.4 aperture lets in 73% more light than the iPhone 4.

Apple has upgraded the memory (RAM) of the iPhone 4S to 1GB (up from 512mb in iPhone 4). This should allow it to run more applications simultaneously and improve speed.

The biggest new feature is a new voice recognition system called ‘Siri’. Siri is a voice controlled personal assistant that is able to do many different tasks with a simple command. Users can ask the phone to find a restaurant, check out the weather, perform searches, send messages, setting alarm, setting up meetings, asking for directions, and plenty else besides. Siri can also dictate messages back to the user. The English, French, and German languages will be supported.

The iPhone 4S will go on sale on 14 October, will be available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models – in both black and white in the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, and Australia in addition to the U.S.

A new study has shown that British people spend almost as much time using Facebook on their mobile phones as they do watching television.

The average time spent using Facebook via web-capable smartphone handsets is one hour and 17 minutes per day in the UK, according to a survey by OnePoll, which revealed the average time spent watching television is just three minutes longer at two hours.

The survey of 3,000 people revealed that the enormous popularity of Facebook has, on the whole, exceeded that of television in the UK, with people spending an average of two-and-a-half hours a day on the social networking site, compared with the two hours they spend on average watching television.

Two of the most telling statistics to come from the survey showed that 70 per cent of Brits have a Facebook account, and 36 per cent own a smartphone. Of those smartphone owners surveyed, 91 per cent said they used their handset to access Facebook.

Mobile manufacturers have been following this trend and are seeking to capitalise on it with the launch of brand new smartphones like the HTC Sensation, which features a dedicated Facebook button below the keypad.

Other new smartphones, like the the hotly anticipated iPhone 5, feature large touchscreens, making life easier for the 15 per cent of Brits who log in to Facebook via their smartphones more than 20 times every day.

OnePoll’s survey was conducted on behalf of online consumer technology retailer EXPANSYS, whose CEO, Anthony Catterson, claimed the results, which also revealed that 49.15 per cent of people are constantly logged into Facebook at home, show a “major behavioural trend”.

He said: “This study shows that the TV is no longer the king of the living room. Even while the TV is on, it seems the nation is still logged on to Facebook and other social networks. People are now using Facebook on their smartphone ortablet computer whilst watching TV. And this major behaviouraltrend is being examined closely by the manufacturers.

“One response, for example, has been the installation of Facebook and Twitter directly onto web-enabled TVs by Manufacturers such as Sony and Samsung. We believe consumers will be the real winners, who will have greater choice, relevance and value”.

Close to a quarter (24.46 per cent) of respondents in the survey admitted to using Facebook via any media for between three and four hours each day, giving a true sense of the scale of the social networking site’s popularity.

Catterson also illustrated the importance of Facebook to people’s lives with another rather revealing piece of data.

He said: “Just to add weight to the argument, 62% also said they’d choose either a laptop or a smartphone as the one piece of technology to take on holiday. The TV only managed just over 4% of that vote”.
